Denise Marsa Releases Second Music Video for ‘Kiss Me in the Rain, a remix by UK’s Until Dawn

[New York City, Friday, April 12, 2024] –Inspired by ‘Kiss Me in the Rain Until Dawn Remix’ singer-songwriter Denise Marsa has released a second music video to showcase the new track which features Marsa at her keyboard, playing to the tracks fast-paced, hypnotic groove; showing us her raw side and this new chapter in her career.

Marsa’s ‘Kiss Me in the Rain Until Dawn Remix’ started with UK’s Matt Waterhouse Represents who is part of Marsa’s promotional team in the UK. Jo Hart from Hart Media suggested a stellar team to help Marsa promote her forthcoming album PIVOTAL, and remixes were part of their strategy. The successful Until Dawn team will be remixing the first three singles from Marsa’s forthcoming album PIVOTAL, releasing June 14th.  The DJ response in the UK so far has been extremely supportive; Marsa and Until Dawn are excited by the response to their first collaboration.

Marsa shares, “As an indie artist, with a label to run, it is crucial to make the best decisions at every turn, especially when releasing new work. We are focusing on the UK market initially, as I am best known in that region; it is where my career first kicked off. Collaborating with Until Dawn on the remix is giving me a whole new perspective on my work; I was inspired by their work, to make the video. This was unplanned, it was one of those moments when I had an idea and just went for it.  I worked with my trusted videographer Bill Westmoreland. I hope that the music and video will inspire people to embrace love, desire, passion, and dance like everybody’s watching.”

‘Kiss Me in the Rain Until Dawn Remix’ music video is a must-watch. Get ready to groove your way into spring with this infectious anthem of love and liberation.

Denise Marsa – ‘Kiss Me in the Rain’ 22nd of March

“the entrancing addition to Denise Marsa’s growing discography of decadent pop treasures.” – Music Existence
“her incredible singing abilities make it an essential acquisition for pop aficionados” – Indie Pulse Music
“you’ll be drawn in by the 80s style synths, alongside a pounding drumbeat and soaring guitar solos. Marsa’s powerhouse vocals take centre stage, pulling us in and refusing to let us go.” – Essentially Pop

Acclaimed singer-songwriter Denise Marsa makes a powerful return with her latest release, the captivating single ‘Kiss Me in the Rain’ on the 22nd of March. This eagerly awaited track heralds the arrival of Marsa’s third studio album, ‘PIVOTAL’, scheduled to drop on June 14th via her own record label, KeyMedia Group.

The lead single from her upcoming album, ‘Kiss Me in the Rain’, emerges as a mesmerising fusion of dark allure and pulsating energy. Infused with haunting melodies and evocative, almost gothic undertones, the track seamlessly blends pop sensibilities with captivating dance-floor rhythms. Accompanying the release is the visually stunning music video for the third installment in Marsa’s acclaimed series, ‘The Cowgirl & The Alien’. The video was directed by Marsa and Karolina Tyszkowska (co-director, video animation designer, and editor); it is their third collaboration on the ‘The Cowgirl & The Alien’ series.

Denise shares, “I remember vividly the day I started writing ‘Kiss Me in the Rain’. It was May 2021, and we all had been so isolated. I remember thinking, let’s celebrate connections, and being together and kissing, for me, is such a powerful way to express feelings of love and joy. I was envisioning – let’s get back to kissing…and loving, no matter where – even in the rain. Especially in the rain.”

Marsa releases ‘PIVOTAL’ on the 14th of June 2024, her first full-length album of new songs since 2012. Produced by herself alongside Janosch Roth, Anna Paulin, and Viktor Becker of Lautstumm Studios in Germany, ‘PIVOTAL’ represents a significant artistic milestone for the self-taught keyboardist and producer. Renowned British guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Paul A. Harvey lends his talents to the track ‘Dry Spell’ on the album, serving as co-producer. Marsa started writing the album in the fall of 2022 and believes it may be her most commercial success to date.

The self-taught keyboardist, singer-songwriter, and producer, known for her innovative blend of alt-indie pop, has been mixing music genres since first moving to New York City. As a composer who is not comfortable with boundaries and labels, Denise started KeyMedia Group to release her debut solo album ‘Self’. The album garnered strong reviews in several indie press outlets and Denise supported the release with dozens of performances in the Los Angeles area, where she was living at the time. In 2011, now back in New York City, Marsa started writing her second album, ‘Live Forever’, and released it in 2012 with little promotion behind it. It garnered a New Mexico Music Award for Best Production (co-producer Andy Gabrys) and Songwriting for the song ‘Steady’. In 2022, Marsa started directing and producing her own music videos for her songs.

Denise Marsa’s musical journey is one defined by innovation and fearlessness. She has performed in various popular venues, including The Roxy and The Troubadour in Los Angeles, and Theatre Row in New York City. In 2017, she began working on her one-woman show ‘The Pass’, a recollection of her ongoing career, presented in vignettes and songs. Premiering in London at The Playground Theatre for two nights, ‘The Pass’ received glowing reviews. In 2021, ‘The Pass’ won the Best Concert Award from the United Solo Festival in New York.

With its bold sonic palette and poignant lyricism, ‘PIVOTAL’ promises to be a defining moment in Marsa’s storied career.

Indie pop singer Denise Marsa takes country music for a spin in brand new single “You Should Have Asked”

“In her latest single, titled “Sanctuary,” Denise Marsa delivers some of the most chilling vocal harmonies of the season in what many critics have deemed her breakthrough moment as a singer/songwriter. Right from the onset of the understated melody, we’re entrapped in Marsa’s web of ultra-slick musicality, and best of all, the magic only grows stronger as we push forward in the song. The shots of an isolated forest that once stood lonesome but which is now occupied by our star are synchronized with the verses perfectly, and though it’s a little on the nose, its simplicity contrasts severely with the over-the-top fodder that I’ve seen out of the underground lately. She’s trying to keep us connected with the music more than the visuals in this piece, and I suppose that should be commended all the more when considering the current state of pop music. I think that the melodies are louder than they needed to be in the chorus, but that aside, “Sanctuary” is cosmetically exceptional, and has a rather brilliantly constructed master mix.” – Anne Hollister, The Indie Source read full review

Denise Marsa’s “Sanctuary”

“There’s a brief moment between the chorus and the conclusion of the track in which it feels like there could have been something there ahead of the final cuts, which makes me curious to see how this player is going to perform her new song in a live setting in the future. She’s got so much presence, to begin with, that it’s hard to imagine her abilities not getting even more attention on a proper stage, where someone who has the level of panache Marsa does could make the impact on her fans that can’t truly be made real from within the recording studio environment. Lyrically speaking, “Sanctuary” isn’t particularly inventive; in fact, I would even go as far as to say that it’s a little formulaic. What makes it so unbelievably relatable is the humble tone in which our singer delivers it to us; Marsa’s vocal transforms the otherwise ordinary verses into unedited diary emissions, and in the course of her performance here, she never sounds even somewhat halfhearted in the statements that she makes. She could probably sing just about anything and make it sound like a genuine hit, but so far she hasn’t had to resort to such measures in any of the music that she’s produced (this song included).” – Mindy McCall, indie pulse music read full review

The “FLOAT (The Cowgirl and the Alien)” video (directed by Marsa & Karolina Tyszkowska) is an animated fantasy of impossible romance becoming real.

“FLOAT” is thoroughly more engaging than some of the other crossover singles I’ve listened to this summer largely thanks to the physicality of its mastering, which allows for the instruments to have equal footing with an otherwise overpoweringly melodic vocal from Marsa herself. She’s quite a brilliant singer, and it’s only because of the stripped-down arrangement in this track that we’re really able to appreciate how deftly she can navigate even a complicated groove that would be a lot less forgiving to anyone else who had given this same song a shot. If this is par for the course, I can’t wait to hear what she comes up with next. – Music Existence

“Right from the outset you’ll be drawn in by the 80s style synths, alongside a pounding drumbeat and soaring guitar solos. Marsa’s powerhouse vocals take centre stage, pulling us in and refusing to let us go. The music was performed and produced by Marsa and her collaborator and long time friend, the guitarist and multi-instrumentalist, Paul A. Harvey, who Marsa first met in the 1980s, when she was living in London. Alt-indie pop singer-songwriter Denise Marsa recently released her single/music video, “Sanctuary,” a modern feminist pop-rock ballad narrating the story of an overbearing lover, trying to take more than they give, expecting Marsa to be their sanctuary.” – Essentially Pop

September 21, 2023 – “Sanctuary” opens on winsome, retro-flavored synths and longing guitars. A rippling percussive fill leads into the pop-rock melody, riding a finessed, pushing cadence and accenting guitar licks that infuse the harmonics with alluring, gliding coloration. Marsa’s vocals, powerful and evocative, vaguely reminiscent of Grace Slick, imbue the lyrics with impressive tones as silhouetting harmonies give the song depth and dimension. There’s an intoxicating magnetism to Marsa’s voice, at once potent and dripping with delicious timbres. – Randy, Celebmix.com (full review)

DENISE MARSA DROPS NEW SINGLE/VIDEO “FLOAT” – There are times in which the music video for Denise Marsa’s new single “FLOAT (The Cowgirl & The Alien)” feels like an animated art film that isn’t meant to be taken at face value, but given the poetic ground this singer/songwriter is looking to cover in this track, I suppose the ambitiousness of the stylization makes a lot of sense. There’s a playfulness to the imagery that makes it endearing and accessible, but the bones of this video are built off of a serious ear for folk, country, rock, and R&B fused into a singular model for which this generation is bound to benefit. – Indie Band Guru

The competition is thick and the pressure to do something original is major, and perhaps inspired by these factors when stepping into the recording studio, Denise Marsa submits the new single and music video “FLOAT (The Cowgirl & The Alien)” as her own strike at making something potently unique enough to draw positive reactions from critics and discriminating indie audiences all the same. – Music Existence, Michael Stover

“This lead vocal is awfully fearless, and as we get deeper into the song, it becomes clear that the charismatic sway of one Denise Marsa is the most powerful force to be reckoned with in this single, even if it does come from a rather soft vocal in more than a couple of instances. She’s just so bewitching with her Josh Homme-style swagger ahead of the verses, and even without the presence of raging electric guitar parts, you can tell that the heavier side of music has had an influence over how she approaches a piece like “FLOAT (The Cowgirl & The Alien).” –indiepulsemusicmag
