Uncertainty

boats 4  Some people cannot handle not knowing what life will look like from year to year, month to month. They need to have it all planned out. From holidays to birthdays to vacations, to budgets –for them, 2018 has been planned out since January 15, 2017.

Others, play it more week to week, even day to day, with a spontaneity of go — with the flow.

Having lived more in the second option a majority of my life, and now looking to exist more in the realm of the first option, whenever possible,  I find myself struggling with the difference in the mindset between the two and battling who gets the middle. The center. Holy mackerel!

Today, I come to realize, as I lose people in my life for various reasons, including death and differences, I am at a resolve. For today.  What I have the power to control and plan, I will embrace that certainty with experience.  And what is unexpected, unprecedented, and unrehearsed…well that uncertainty is what puts us all —basically and realistically, in the same boat. I will row, swim, paddle — I will not sink. Not today.
