Continuing my association with Warner Bros, I moved to LA in 1990 as part of my agreement with Warner/Chappell Publishing. After living in London for four years,  the sun and palm trees were a welcome change.  FInding the inspiration to write, and not swim all day long, was certainly a challenge, but if anything could keep me indoors, it would be my keyboard.

Funny thing, my second publisher decided to leave the Warner clan mid-stream of my contract,  just like my first one...Nonetheless, I decided to stay in LA and started focusing on performing live. That's when I started Denise Marsa & The Mother Band...what a blast!  We had our first show at The Roxy.  After a year or so of shows, I decided it was time to put out my own CD. We started recording in 1996 and completed the CD in 1997.  SELF was  my debut release, and what a journey it was.

Handling every aspect of the project from production to promotion to the release, I learned how to release a CD as I was actually releasing the CD. There is so much work that goes into releasing one body of work.

We had some amazing shows around LA and Las Vegas...and we had over 55 Triple A stations playing various tunes from SELF.  I worked night and day and when all the CD's were sold,  I  decided to move back to NYC. I was missing New York.
